Patchwork Tales Storytelling Festival

FREE. Voted a top 20 event by the Southeast Tourism Society and hosted by the York County Library, Patchwork Tales is a collection of talented storytellers who come together to bring stories to life through song, sounds and drama. Visitors can also attend concerts and make crafts.
St. Patrick's Day on Main Festival

FREE. Hundreds packed downtown Rock Hill last year to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day with Irish music by Michael Federal & Friends as well as Celtic rock by Stirling Bridge. Visitors can also watch Irish dances performed by two of the top dancing schools in the region - Walsh Kelley School of Irish Dancing and Rince na h'Eireann School of Traditional Irish Dance. Celtic & Irish vendors will also be on hand as well as a Corn Hole tournament, food drinks and kids activities that include Pickle Da Clown. Visitors can also register to win a free trip to Myrtle Beach.

This singing quartet has been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and has had numerous top ten hits during their half century of performances including such famous songs "Baby I Need Your Loving," "Reach Out, I'll Be There" and "I Can't Help Myself."

1. "Historic & Contemporary Quilts of York County"
Time: Fri Mar 25-Thurs Apr 28
Location: Old Town, Rock Hill (3 locations): The White Home, the Center for the Arts, and Gallery Up
Admission: FREE. The Arts Council of York County, Historic Rock Hill, and the York County Quilters, with support from Gallery Up and the Old Town Association will display historic and contemporary quilts from North and South Carolina before, during and after Rock Hill's Come See Me Festival. Visitors can also watch demonstrations, sit in on lectures and attend luncheons. Each quilt tells the story of families in days and settings of the past.
2."Hairspray"
Time: Thurs Mar 24, Fri Mar 25 & Sat Mar 26, 7 p.m.; Sun Mar 27, 3 p.m.
Location: Fort Mill High School
Admission: $15 adults, $8 students. The Fort Mill High School Choral Department presents "Hairspray," a musical comedy that includes songs such as "It Takes Two," "You Can't Stop the Beat" and, of course, "(It's) Hairspray." For more information e-mail btripp@ayrsley.com.
3. Manipulative - A Dance Performance
Time: Fri Mar 25 & Sat Mar 26, 8 p.m.
Location: Johnson Theatre, Winthrop University
Admission: FREE. Performance features a variety of dance performances. Visitors come ready to move as the dance circles Johnson Hall rather than staying place on one stage.
4. A Thousand Words: Photographs by Vietnam Veterans
Time: Thurs Mar 24, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
Location: Fiction Room at the Library, Kannapolis
Admission: FREE. The exhibit features 60 color and black & white photos taken by North Carolina Vietnam War veterans stationed in Vietnam. The photos have been traveling all over the country since July of 2004. Visitors hear quotes from the veterans and can view slides that include an additional 70 photos.

1. Cashore Marionettes
Time: Sat Apr 2, 3 & 8 p.m.
Location: Community Performance Center, Rock Hill
Admission: Matinee is $10 adults, $5 children for members (advance only) and $15 adults, $10 children for non ACYC Members. Evening show is $34 for members (advance only) and $38 for non-members. Matinee runs for one hour and is recommended for ages 8 and up. Evening performance is 1 ½ hours and recommended for ages 12 and up. The Arts Council of York County is proud to present the Cashore Marionettes www.cashoremarionettes.com , a one-of-a-kind award winning puppet performance that can only be described by experiencing the show firsthand.
2. 2011 RHBC Spring Classic Bike Races
Time: Sat Apr 2, 7 a.m.-6 p.m; Sun Apr 3, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Admission: Winthrop University Coliseum & Lake Complex on Sat; York Intermediate School on Sun
No admission fee for spectators; bikers click link above for details on registration fees. To celebrate its 31st year, the Rock Hill Bicycle Club hosts its annual Classic Bike Races. Two full days of racing with estimated participants of over 1,000 riders result in prizes totaling $10,200.
3. Medal of Honor in the ArtsTime: Fri Apr 1, 8 p.m.
Location: Johnson Theatre, Winthrop University
Admission: $25 per ticket, $40 per couple. The Winthrop University College of Visual and Performing Arts is proud to present "Medal of Honor in the Arts" honoring those in the area who have made vital contribution to arts in the Carolina.
